I am Jesse Ruderman, a first-year Ph.D. student at UCSD. I am taking the policy class for full credit. I blog. I contribute to Firefox.

Resume:

  • Blackhat (1996-1999). I found a small hole in DALnet IRCD, wrote a somewhat successful and mIRC worm, and invented a "man in the middle" spoofing attack for IRC private messages (especially between members of sex channels).
  • Whitehat (2000-2004). Found over 50 security bugs in Mozilla/Firefox. While I use IRC less than I did during my blackhat years, I am still a loser.

My policy-related interests include open-source, software security (especially in user interfaces), and economics. A project I am interested in will probably coincide with at least one of my broad interests. Here's a copy of the Project_Teams list, with the projects I find most interesting at the top.
